Hi everyone, Socr4te’s here. I have a LOT of things I want to inform you about, so let’s get started already :D.
If you visited my wordpress, you noticed that I started working on things related to a really old version of the game: the closed beta. Today, I’ll share with you some of my progression.
For obvious reasons, any additional information will be posted on my private wordpress until I release them on MapSkins.

CLOSED BETA MAP

Alright, this might be the most exciting thing I’ve never been workig on: after days and weeks of research, I found out a way to load a Summoner’s rift that has the “shape” of the beta one. All I needed to do was adding textures and the map would look like the first closed beta one ever released. Even though I did some miraculous progress, the map is still not ready and won’t be ready to be played on before a few weeks. Enjoy the screenshots anyway!

Cancelled champions

You may have already heard those names somewhere: Averdrian, the Mind of Oblivion and Priscilla the Spiderqueen are champions that were supposed to be released and ended up cancelled (or replaced). Here are extra informations about them.

As you can see, one is a little guy with a big blue head and looks like the main character of Megamind while the other is a mix between Urgot and Elise. Well, I managed (with the help of my dear colleague Chewy) to bring them back, and I plan to make them available as custom skins! You can already check out my progression here :

Cancelled champion base skins: Dr.Mundo and Kassadin

There’s actually a human version of Dr.Mundo as well as a slightly different base skin for Kassadin. Sadly, none of these “skins” were released when the open beta came out. My guess is that Dr.Mundo seemed too “violent” and “gore”, and Kassadin didn’t have that Darth Vader side that everyone likes :P.
Anyway, here are two videos of those -almost working- canceled champion skins.

SKIN PROJECT: Closed beta minions

So this is something I am also working on at the moment; if you ever played the League of Legends closed beta, you might have encountered weird looking minions that weren’t used in the older versions of the game : my project is to bring them back, and to give you the opportunity to play with a full custom reskin for minions. Here’s a screenshot of the chaos minions rider from the beta :

(At the moment they’re really tiny though, I need to find out how to resize them).

CUSTOM SKIN: Cervantes Gangplank

If you didn’t watch it yet, be sure to check the Cervantes Gangplank trailer I made!

I’ll publish it soon, it’ll be available as a custom skin with the original gangplank used as a base skin.

Regarding the original skins I’m trying to bring back : A lot of you asked me to make the original master yi/garen/nasus work; even though I promise I’ll keep working on them, I’m encountering a lot of problems, so here’s a list of (easier) original skins I’ll be publishing soon:
- Tristana
- Maokai
- Gragas

Finally, I’ll publish a fix for the “Gangplank original skins” pack as soon as possible.
